It would be pretty difficult to beat Wal-Mart or Costco's prices when
you add the shipping costs to on-line purchases. Both sell AAs in
bulk packages.

Go to Lowe's (Southern discount hardware chain). They have REALLY
great deals on batteries - especially for large-number buys like you
want.

You can buy on ebay at your own risk. I want to know who I'm buying from. I use
www.thomasdistributing.com for batteries and chargers.

Good service, fair prices and so far good products.
They also sell on eBay and you can save a dollar or two buying from them
there, as long as you have the time.

Yes, I know Dave Etchell's "The Great Battery Shootout". Thank you all the
same. The list is useful, not so much to identify the genuine high capacity
rechargeables but to identify the best ones in terms of good value for
money (you need the prices for the batteries, then of course measured
capacity/price). Nowadays, I don't bother; I just get the cheapest!

Steven Scharf built this very handy 'Trickle Charging Large Numbers of NiMH
Batteries at Very Low Cost' (at the bottom of the page). By the way, I
don't take notice of the description of one named charger before it; the
piece could well be commissioned by the manufacturer. After all, a charger
is a very simpe device!
