Bad Idea. I would rather that you keep the old PC intact & sell it. Or hand it down to someone close to you.
Buy a new case. It is just a small addition to your brand new rig.

Why not? Won't it fit all the parts?
And I'm so attached to this 5 year old case. :pt1cable:

My old motherboard is micro-atx, the one that came with the HP package.

Hey, I had a pavilion case too. I ended up getting a new case becuase the video card did not fit. It was a ASUS EAH DC 6850. Also don't plan on putting a new power supply in there as well. It wont fit. I'm still using my micro atx board tho. All in all you need a new case.

The Asrock H61M-DGS is much smaller than your original motherboard but should still mount properly in the HP case.

Another thing to be careful with is to make sure that the wiring of the case's front panel connector properly matches the pin-out of the front panel header on the new motherboard. You don't want to cause a short-circuit that may burn out a copper trace in the motherboard rendering it useless.

Hahaha! It will fit but these are usually small with poor airflow & not design to handle hot gpu's.

To be honest, I did it once when I upgraded a PC & took out all the old parts & re-use the case. The old parts are all working & now they are lying around useless instead of being a PC that I could have given to a poor kid. 2 years after it is even more obsolete to put back together again. Been regretting it since... :(
