Hello,

I am getting a Sony HMZ-T1 delivered next week: http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&partNumber=HMZT1#specifications

Already own a Sony PS3 that I can use to feed it 3D, but Skyrim is the game at the top of my list of "want to buy and try on this device"...unfortunately for me console versions were left out of 3D for this game. So if i can keep the cost reasonable would like to build a gaming PC that will be able to support Skyrim, and other yet to be determined games that don't support 3D on consoles. I have read system requirements for Skryim, but don't know what system in between what is listed for "extreme" and minimum requirements would max out what I can get using the HMZ-T1.

Looking for recommendations on parts for the lowest cost system that can give the best 3D gaming given the specs/limitations of the HMZ-T1. Specifically CPU, memory, graphics card, sound card, motherboard, case, HDD(s), and power supply, and optical drive..similar to what was given here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/core-i5-overclock-performance-gaming,3097.html , but taking the HMZ-T1 into account as the display for the system. If I find the DD 5.1 of the HMZ-T1 is inadequate, will use existing 5.1 audio (for plasma) in the office.

Not looking for the lowest cost system that will run the games in 3D, more on the lines of the hardware price points above which increased performance would not be seen using the HMZ-T1.

Thanks,

John

The viewer seems to have TWO 720 p resolution screens to get 3D ?

The combined resolutions of those screen is less than a single 1080p screen by about 10% , so my GUESS is a 6870 or GTX 560 would work .

It may be simpler to use an nVidia card for 3D , but it is possible with AMD

o.k. Thanks Outlander.

After researching what type of system is in line using the 6870 or GTX 560 as a gpu, this is what I came up with:

Intel Core i5-2400 3.10 GHz 6 MB Cache Socket LGA1155 Processor - Intel $179.99

ASRock H61M/U3S3 Intel H61 Micro ATX DDR3 1333 Motherboard $69.99

Galaxy GeForce GTX 560 Ti GC 1 GB GDDR5 Battlefield 3 Edition PCI Express 2.0 DVI/DVI/Mini-HDMI SLI Ready Graphics Card, 56NGH6HS4IVZ $204.44

OCZ ZS Series 750W 80PLUS Bronze High Performance Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandy Bridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom $79.99

Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower ATX Case (RC-912-KKN1) $59.99

and am leaning towards getting: http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=B09F28F2A5CA7304

for the memory, but am also looking at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161364&Tpk=Wintec%20AMPO%208GB

and this: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-1333MHz-KHX1333C9D3B1K2-8G/dp/B004DDI0IE/ref=pd_cp_e_2

They are close in price, and I have had pretty good results with crucial memory in the past....but have amazon prime, so the kingston will probably get delivered the quickest. All of them get good reviews, is there really much difference in performance between brands within the same dram type?

I have a new 500gb 7200 rpm sata 3G/sec drive I can use, and probably can find a dvd burner.

With the $60 in rebates the total for the system comes in at $578 which meets my reasonable criteria ($600 or less) for purchasing a gaming PC to supplement the PS3 for 3d gaming....well really just to get skyrim in 3d :)

Am going to purchase this weekend, would appreciate any comments on how this build matches with the specs of the Sony HMZ-T1 expected in next week. Seem about right, too much or not enough of a system?

Also, any suggestions on hardware changes in the build are welcome.

John
