I have a d-link wireless router and the pc in the end of the house has a Belkin wireless card. The signal strength is low .Is there a cheap way to increase the strength. Bruce

buy a dlink usb2 dongle, with rebates it is about 20 bux, that thing is going to bring you up to speed.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

LMAO - How can you say that? For all you know the signal is going through 20 ft of concreate and lead!

My first concern comes up when you mention 20 feet of lead somewhere in someone's house..

I guess that could cause a low signal..

heh

"LMAO - How can you say that? For all you know "

Odd I find myself defending a guy who's post are complete BS about 50% of the time but I expect he just has a high opinion of that USB client device and/or a low opinion of Belkin gear. The OP does say he has a signal, just a low one with a belkin card. So, if he got a better card, it could very well give him acceptable signal strength and quality.

Haha, maybe a slight exaderation...

There isn't enough info from the OP to indicate that the hardware itself is the problem - let alone advise to buy $20 worth of gear.

Low signal probably just means the router could need re-positioning.

I don't disagree. Antenna positioning or fighting multipath should be the first step. Belkin does have notoriously poor client cards however.

""For all you know the signal is going through 20 ft of concreate and lead!""

hmm... well, in that case he'll need Hawking USB High Gane dongle. I am getting 4 miles range with it and 1W setup me is running (yeah, you can laugh all you want, it changes nothing caz I am using most of the gear out there, so me know what me say ;)

It's spelt 'helpful'.

Your post is funny, but lacks any scientific proof. Good try though.

I don't think this board is some kind of scientific discussion panel, so I'll hold my breath on 'proof'ing, do some recearch just to have some broader view on real life.

Just for little info, my bro works at B. Gates' friend ships and offices all over the Europe, they setup lots of stuffs that talk through space, I think he knows what's going on more than you and me together, but that's not just the source of info I have if that matters, I have other peepel that do the same as I to survive this terrible world of information. In the future please reffer to me as "yer highness magnitude knowlege" in order to get the stuffs going around here.

Hope it was a little help(foolness;)

and I blame you for not taking any kind of action to help the werld to survive this horrable information crisis about pills and enlargement that is not enlarging more than it should or must or would. There is no help and that is sad to the bone of the brain. I wish we had flying cows, I would open a biggest car wash franchise system in the werld and beat everyone's prices by putting big smiley cow face with a sponge on the banner ;)

PS: or at least flying pigs, that picture would be just fine too ;
