VGA fan controller

Hello,
I just got a Diamond Radeon 6770 card and it's a little too noisy for me. I have a Zalman FanMate controller I'd like to attach to it to slow it down a little. The Zalman has a 3 pin connector and the Diamond fan a 2-pin. If I get a 2-pin to 3-pin adapter, would the Zalman be able to control the fan or would the missing wire prevent that?

Since I don't OC normally, not familiar with them.

So, suggest one.

Download MSI Afterburner , its free and works on all cards. You can adjust the fan settings easily and its also a good overclocking tool if you wish to dabble in it.

Thanks for the tips. I just downloaded Afterburner and will install as soon as I get the system up and running (just upgraded hardware and moving from XP to Win 7).
