My Intel core2 duo processor wont run on acer power ast690/apfh mobo with a 500w power supply unit. Screen is just flickering and no display and the power was just turning on and off. But when I tried Intel pentium D processor, it worked. Is it a power supply problem or my Intel core 2 duo processor was dead? Thanks in advance.

according to acer, these are the only supported cpu's. If your cpu is included in the list then please update the bios with the PentiumD installed and then try the C2D

Intel® Pentium® 4 processor, up to 3.8GHz, 533/800MHz system bus or
Intel® Core 2 Duo® processor, up to 3.8GHz, 533/800MHz system bus or
Intel® Pentium® D processor, up to 3.6GHz, 533/800MHz system bus or
Intel® Celeron® processor up to 3.2GHz, 400/533MHz system bus

Sir Popatim, I had updated the bios but still the same thing happens. Any other solutions? Thanks for your time anyway.
