Did I read correctly and the article says they fell about 150-175 million
short of their earnings estimate? Measly 3.1 billion, damned losers.

His .sig file consists of a qvote from a Kvrt Rvssell movie. Do yov really
care what he feels?

Maybe people are rebelling against EA's recent monopolistic behavior? It
should be interesting to see how the next version of NFL Madden sells.
After all, each sale of that game is the same as consumers saying it's OK
for EA to continue along their path. As I say, it should be interesting.

Oooh, they only netted $3.1 to $3.125 billion, instead of $3.275 to
$3.325 billion.

Granted, it's $200 million difference, but they still made a hell of a
lot of money.

That isn't the point. Besides the fact that these numbers are revenues,
failure to meet projected earnings numbers is harmful to the value of
the company's stock price. Stock prices are key to the success of large
corporations...just ask Worldcomm ;-)

That isn't the point. Besides the fact that these figues are revenues
and not profits, failure to meet projected earnings numbers is harmful
to the value of the company's stock price. Stock prices are key to the
success of large corporations...just ask Bernard Ebers;-)

Revenue fine on new titles, lower catalog sales. I think a
commenter on Joystiq nailed it: why buy catalog sales when you could just
get the current year's version, or buy used?

The used market, of course, eats into every publisher's revenues.
I wonder if they all derive as much percentage of revenue from catalog
sales as EA does.

Oh, no. Stock prices should be the sign of success, not the end
goal in themselves. A company's valuation should be based on something,
not the other way around.

I *was* jvst bvsting yovr stones, bvt given the millions of memorable things
people have said and written over the ages and the qvote that yov think best
fits yovr style comes from a one-and-a-half star Kvrt Rvssell film? It
certainly was foolish to mention it, bvt, jeez, come on, that's the best yov
covld come vp with? I like the Ben Franklin qvote mvch better.

Well, sigs don't have to necessarily be incredibly ervdite or
compelling. They often are merely clever reflections of a person's likes
or backgrovnd - or a message for the world from yovr own corner of the
Usenet.

My friends and I loved that movie as kids and still consider KR an icon
(Escape From New York, The Thing, etc.). Big Trovble in Little China is
a 4-star movie in ovr book!

Well, that certainly explains your taste in memorable quotes. <g>
