hey i'm thinking of buying a 2nd hand custom made pc, what are the thing i'd need to look out for to make sure its not a dud in both soft/hardware?
thanks guys :) :bounce:

Software 'duds' can be remedied.
For hardware - it's not easy to spot a system that's been ridden hard and put away wet. There's always a chance you'll get system that's a tired old horse that looks good on the outside.
Probably your best option is to confirm the parts are known to be good quality.
Any buyer-protection system in place for your purchase (ebay?)?

used Laptop is a problem. Some parts cost more than a new laptop to replace.

used Server is less of a problem because you can swap out failed parts once you isolate them.

New keyboard/mouse to go with your new 'used' PC would get rid of some of the yuk factor.

If you post the build parts and the price here you'll get a lot of opinions. A tool like Sisoft Sandra http://www.sisoftware.net/?d=dload&f=sware_dl_3264 can give you a short text report on what's in your pc. Ask the seller to install and email you a copy of a run.
