3 pin and molex connector use both

my first build.

the fan has a 3 pin and a molex connector. if i plug the 3 pin to the motherboard, do i need to connect the molex to the psu also?

no its one or the other ,the molex is just incase you dont have any 3 pin available

Im just speaking from personal experience because i have a fan with led and it is only connected with a 3 pin
maybe it depends on make?
