Fluctuating ip address in windows 7

I have been experiencing fluctuating IP address problems with my pc having windows 7. I've even switched off bonjour and firewalls.In some case it connects to the net but if I disconnect the LAN wire and try to connect to the internet again,I find no connection.

What can be the problem with windows 7,whereas it is fine with my other pc with windows xp in it,thereby indicating that my modem is working fine. MY drivers are also working fine. Can anybody provide any solutions?

Let's get this straight "If I disconnect the LAN wire and try to connect" you get no connection? Read that again and think about it for a second, you'll probably figure out what the issue is.

I'll give you a hint: it may be a good idea to keep the wire that connects the network to the computer plugged in.

Just don't go scuba diving on your own. Whenever I disconnect the air hose, I can't breathe.
