okay, but am in a situation where by the modem does not synchronize when i power it up with its original power adapter. i tried to change and its able to synchronize with a new power adapter. that is where my question originates, how is this possible? please help....

Maybe the original power adapter is malfunctioning.
As long as the new one has the same voltage/polarity and as much or more current, it is perfectly fine to use another adapter.
I have had 2 routers have failed power supplies. But those just bad fast blinking power led's and never worked at that point(swapping the adapter fixed it).
