What are the signs of a broken cpu pin?

Usually, with a truly dead CPU, the system wouldn't boot at all. There's usually not much in between there. It either works or it doesn't.

The only exception is when you've been OC'ing to the limit and the CPU starts to degrade. When that happens, BSOD's will occur frequently until death a short time later.

With a broken pin, if it's one that really matters, it wouldn't boot at all (there are some that are redundant and/or not that important that won't cause problems).

noooo, my cpu isn't dead, it's perfectly fine, but I'm worried I could've bent or broken a pin in the motherboard, I'm kind of a brute
the stupid stock heatsink (I'm getting a new one) is also hard to place in correctly so I pressed it pretty hard

so that means I'm ok? no bent pins? you break one the cpu is dead right?

If it's working, I'd say you're fine. Like I said in that last bit, if the bent or broken pin was important, it just wouldn't boot at all.
