There's no PSU category so this will do. I am going to be upgrading my motherboard (and all that is associated with it it seems I must mention this), I am probably going to get a Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 and either the 8120 or the 8150. My friend said that the fx series is power hungry and I would need a better PSU I was wondering if a 305 watt will work, I have a gt 545 store bought card that's min. PSU is 300w. I have asked around and most people say that I wouldn't need to upgrade my PSU for a cpu upgrade but I don't wana take an hour drive back to micro center to buy a PSU. Any help with this?

Well the 8120 and 8150 are 125W CPU's and at full load you can expect your 300W PSU to be pretty much maxed out I would try to get a decent 380-500 Watt PSU to give your PSU a bit more headroom just in case.
