Best cpu for watching tv

I got rid of my cable and want to up grade my tower for watching online content on my 55 inch Sony LCD.
If you were going to do the same. What would you buy? Say for around $1500?

For watching online content, a Core i3 2100 with a HD 6850 should be more than sufficient

PS :- $1500 is too much money !!!

to watch movies in 1080p suprisingly isnt demanding, and doesnt take much hardware to do that.

You could either go for the T-series of intel Core i processors. These processors are a little slower than the normal models but have a TDP of 50% or less then the normal model of the processor that makes it suitable for HTPC. You can choose depending on how much you want to spend.

AMD APU's are cheaper but consume relatively more power due to stronger built in graphics (compared to Intel's HD2000 found in the T-Series):

are you actually planning on using your tower? you said "upgrade" so what are its specs? what problens are you having watching online tv that you think you need an upgrade?

I highly doubt you need to do anything to it. maybe a lowend gpu for 50 bucks if you have built in graphics

or build a cheap htpc. nowhere close to 1500 though
