Connected to network but no internet access

my wired desktop cannot access the internet. its still connected to my home network however. every other computer on the network can connect to both the network and the internet just fine. the wired desktop is running windows xp. I have tried renewing the ip address, resetting IE settings, disabling the firewall, and I am currently running an anti-virus scan. any help would be appreciated.

You left out running the network setup wizard.
When you get there, click "other" as it will probably list your setup more closely.

Start>control Panel>network setup wizard (of course).

figured it out, something was messed up in the router settings (don't know what). reset the settings and i was able to connect
