my current gpu is a evga nvidia gt 240 is running at 100 C while running any game :(
so im in need of a new gpu, and i was thinking of either a gt 450 or gt 550 ti
i was wondering if my mb, an asus m4n68t-m v2, could handle it or not? im confuse about the power cable it come along with. do i need to use it or not?

hello dznguy.
your motherboard can support a gtx 550ti. it has a pcie 2.0 x16 slot.
the power cable might be a molex to pcie converter. more powerful gfx cards need one to connect to the psu for extra power. you'll have to connect a pcie power connector when you install the card.
whether you can run it or not depends on rest of your specs. what kind of psu do you have?
also, can you get a radeon hd 5770/6770 or a radeon hd 6850? the 6770 trades blows with 550ti in terms of performance, and 6850 is better than the 550ti.

well my psu have 600 watts so thats more than enough to handle it.
about the pcie power connector, how exactly does that work? im assuming that i will have to connect that to my psu. i have never try using pcie power connector so this will be my first time.
as for getting radeon hd 5770/6770 or even the hd 6850 one, ill have to check the differences first and will made my decision. im more likely to get the evga gt 550 ti at my local frys electronic store.
