I have a Canon IXUS 400 and a Nikon 8800 (which I use a lot).
The Nikon 8800 does not seem to write the EXIF Orientation
tag if I take portrait or landscape shots so I cannot use
the auto-rotate feature certain programs offer to speed up
processing of images. The IXUS does updates the Orientation
tag correctly.
Anyone know of a fix to get the 8800 to correctly write the
Orientation tag ?

The 8800 lacks an orientation sensor. I cannot write what it doesn't know.
