Will this processor go in this motherboard

Last response: in CPUs

No way this processor will work on this motherboard. It's a Deneb one, they are newer. I guess not even with a BIOS update.

Just my opinion though, the guys will make their comments.

Best regards.

You could have just clicked the processor upgrade option on the motherboard link and learned yourself that the answer is NO.

Socket type: AM2+
TDP: 125 watt
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
Athlon X2 BE-2xxx (Brisbane) (AM2)
Athlon 64 X2 up to 6000+ with Dual Core (Brisbane) technology (AM2)
Athlon 64 X2 up to 6000+ with Dual Core (Winsor) technology (AM2)
AMD Phenom Triple-Core (Toliman) up to 8xxx series (AM2+)
AMD Phenom Quad-Core (Agena) up to 9950, (AM2+)

That was part of the confusion for the OP because if you click on the Front-side Bus Speed link it states:
Up to 5200MT/s (5.2 GT/s) when using compatible AM2+ or AM3 processor

And just like notlim981 stated, this board will not handle a Deneb...not even the AM2 socket version (920/940). A BIOS update probably would have worked, but no way HP (or many other vendors) is going to issue an updated BIOS. HP would rather have you buy a whole new computer than update this one.

If a BIOS update supports AM3 CPU's, then that's one thing, but WHICH CPU's it would support is another. Secondarily, a BIOS update (especially on an OEM system) is risky.

And I found this. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/HP-Pavill...

I don't know if that's YOUR model or not (it's the one the guy in the video had), but apparently, you only can do the BIOS update with Vista. Besides that, it looks like it should work.

Lucky me, I already did that with vista :p

Ok I found a pc w/ a AM3 Processor in it im gonna take it out and test it with mine and see before I buy
(I can't keep the processor though which is hwy... yea)
