Hey I was thinking lately to upgrading my video card , because when I play bf3 I get lags sometimes when there's a lot of action going and I don't know if upgrading to that would make the lag disappear so what do you guys think

Well, a 6970 is much, much faster than 5770 crossfire. 5770 crossfire is more like a 6870 performance. You'd be upgrading with a 560 Ti, 6950, 570, 6970, or higher.

As for BF3, depends on a few things. If you are online, you might not have a strong enough CPU because with 64 player matches, it gets very CPU intensive too. Basically your total system specs will help with knowing whether a big GPU upgrade is going to help you or not.

I have crossfired 5770's and they usually perform somewhere between 5850 and 5870. The 6970 would be much better and a noticeable upgrade. Go for it!

weird I run BF3 on a six core amd cpu clocked @4GHZ and with a hd 5770 on high settings and everything runs smooth. at a resolution of 1080p I guess that 5770 would be plenty enough.

^at 1080p you need at least a 6950/560 Ti to run at High. During the demo, crossfire wasn't working so well so I disabled it and only got "smooth" at medium, though definitely playable at high. That's with a single overclocked 5850.

I have to call BS, on that Pez. I just had a 5770/5750 and could not play it on high. Even more I juts upgraded to two HIS 6870's and there are still times when there is a little lag. However, I do have a lot of settings on Ultra with the two 6870's. That being said there is no and I repeat no way one 5770 runs BF3 on high.

^^^^ Totally agree... I run a 6970 Lightning TwinFrozrIII and average 45fps on ultra on a 1080p tv...

I had no lags with 5770 cross fired but recently I added a second screen, I'm on dual screen right now and seems like I'm missing 4-5 fps just a bit in big action in High 1920X1600

1920x1600? You must manufacturer your own screens or something! That's awesome!

Just kidding... ;)

And, yeah, using a second screen even for extended desktop does use a little bit of resources and VRAM.
