i am getting a CRC error when installing bf1942

numerous attempts at installation all give me errors on different files

firstly sound.rfa didnt match the one in the setups cab file

secondly it was textures.rfa

and it keeps on happening

I was wondering if anyone can give me any pointers as how to get around this

I have had my cd drives and hdd at PIO mode and DMA mode and both modes
return the same error

I have tried installing from HDD and i get the same problems

how can i get around this?

Just to eliminate one possible problem, download and run Memtest86 or
Memtest86+ http://www.memtest86.com/ or http://www.memtest.org/

I had similar problems some time ago -- things seemed "OK" but large CD
installations would error out -- and Memtest86 uncovered an occasional
but real problem with my mobo. Worth a try, they're free.

Thanks :)
by chance i tried again and it worked

i do believe that may be the problem however as i have been getting some
stop errors that are memory related, maybe its time to replace my memory

I had exactly the same problem you have described when installing
BF1942 and other programs. Memtest86 revealed a memory error. I bit
the bullet and purchased some low-latency OCX memory and haven't had a
problem since.
