Looking to build a new budget gaming pc for BF3. Right now I'm thinking of getting the Pentium G630 and AMD 6850 video card. Do you guys think a build centered around those components would be able to play BF3 at med settings with at least 40 avg fps? My current system is rocking all low settings with about 25-35 avg fps, so that would be a decent upgrade for me.

From a strictly gaming standpoint they are about on par when the 4100 is at stock settings. It does have some pretty nice overhead when it comes to overclocking to pull ahead of the g630.

The G630 would a placeholder for a later CPU upgrade. I just have a very small budget for a build right now and need to purchase a monitor and OS as well. So I would be pretty happy if it matched 4100 gaming performance. I'd go for the i3 2100 if I thought I could stay within budget, but hopefully the G630 would give me about a years worth of BF3ing before upgrading to something better.

Is this your First Gaming Pc?, Theres a problem with Shooters and more with Bf3.While you Want to get 25, 35fps only, Your Fps will Drop almost to 0 on multiplayer if there are alot of explosions. One Example is the camping on Metro , 20 people launching Rpgs like Retards every 4 seconds well, your Fps will drop almost to 10 or 9. I suggest you Getting an I3 2100+6850 And Play at 1300x1024 or something, You Will be able to play the Game at Medium Settings and Above 50fps. And when the Fps Drop u will still be at 30 or 29 fps

No I've been PC gaming for 20+ years. I just haven't put together a new build in about 5 years. And yeah, I know that in fire fights and playing small 64 player maps the FPS is going to take a hit, but I've heard from quite a few people running FX 4100's that they're getting pretty solid frame rates when paired with a decent GPU. So as long as the G630 is on par with the FX 4100, I reckon I should be good to go.

I appreciate the response though. You are definitely right to mention that.
