Bf3 crashes when applying ultra settings

i know this is a common problem with this game, and i'm hoping someone has some answers to help figure this annoying settings issue. every time i try to adjust the video settings to ultra, it either freezes up completely and gives me a black screen, or gives me the vertical stripes of a gpu crash. on the off chance it does work, everytime i go to play, the game causes the display driver to recover from a crash. i've reinstalled the drivers, reinstalled the game... im hoping amd comes up with a patch for this soon.

When Toms did a benchmark of BF3 they too had issues with AMD drivers, maybe you just have to wait for better drivers from AMD.

Edit: reading through it, much of it seems to be related to crossfirex (and 16 GB and you match both), so maybe adjust settings with crossfirex disabled.. like jemm suggests.

Have you tried setting it to ultra with only one card?

i ended up going through and adjusting eachs setting one at a time and has been running great on ultra settings since.
