Hello,

I am playing BF3 and looking to get a better frame rate out of my rig and am thinking of upgrading my GPU . My current setup does ok unless im in bigger maps with a lot going on then it slows down a little too much. My question is, what is the biggest card I should run with a...

MOBO: Asus M3A78
CPU: AMD 9850 quad core 2.5ghz
Ram: 8 gigs of G-Skill DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Current GPU: HD 3870 X2
PSU: Antec 850W

Any information would be GREAT! I am thinking of picking up a used GTX 480, but am affraid it would be a waste due to bottle necking..

You could go a 6770, and see a significant framerate...

Personally, I would invest the extra cash into a 6870 or a 5850/70 if your wanting to play BattleField 3. The 6870 might suit more to your processors performance though...

What if I OC'd the CPU to 3Ghz or close to? Isn't the 5850/70 a slower card than the 6770? I guess I need to read up on that.

get a 6870. 480 is not worth it unless you get it really cheap. it performance is great but its hot and power hungry.

Budget is small at the moment. 200.00 I might upgrade the CPU later. Which one do you recommend for that board?

6870

And upgrade the CPU, because the CPU will bottleneck. Get a Phenom II X4 960T, yes AM3 is compatible with AM2+ mobo.

GTX 480 would be faster than any of the suggested. If you can get it really cheap (up to $170), then I'd suggest you get it.
