Got a quick question for any who may know the answer. Is the sound blaster 16 PCI card usable in a Real mode (pure) dos environment? Got some older games that would like that.

thanks.

You must install the dos drivers from the installation cd. The dos drivers, however, are not compatabile with many dos games because the irq and dma settings are different than the original sound blaster 16, which is what the SB PCI16 emulates. Many of the older games look for these settings, don't find them, and crash. The SB live series has a utility that corrects for this problem, also the SB PCI64 has perfect backwards dos capabilities.

Thanks a bunch! I got the drivers installed in Real mode Dos 6.22 and the Windows Dos box. My IRQ and DMA settings are 7 and 1 respectively with a high of 5. Everything is running great. Thanks again.
