Im still thinking which is better in these two cards ati radeon 6770/5770 or nvidia GTX 550 ti,i know there are many thread likes this existing around but im still confusing.
I open this topic because im planning to upgrade my card from 4670 so i need to gather information for picking the best card for my system

core i3 2100 3.1ghz
card ati 4670
memory: 2x2gig ram 1333
mobo: Asrock h61M U3S3
psu: silverstone 500w SST-ST50F-ES
Hd: WD 500g sata3
Monitor:Led AOC 18.5-inch Led wide E936VW with usb

i use my rig for gaming like crysis 2, crysis warhead, MWF3, battlefield 3 and i want excellent graphics when im playing,i want most of my games set at maximum settings at my 1366x768 resolution,But now i can still play this games in my present set up but i cant max the settings only playable in mid and slight high settings w/ ranging to 20-35fps. so i need a good feedback for picking the best card, my budjet is tight just enough to buy one of these cards

More about : 5770 550

So why are you not able to extrapolate a solution from all those other threads?

yes the 550ti is little more expensive from the hd 5770 but if u want to buy an hd 5770 just go for hd 6770 it will give u little bit more performance then the hd 5770.

@sunnk: hwcompare doesn't compare performance.
6790 review:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-6790-bart...
a quote from the review:
Quote:
Despite the identical $149 MSRP, this GeForce is no match for the new 6790. Let’s face it, the GeForce GTX 550 Ti is Radeon HD 5770-competition.

@OP: even in 550ti vs 5770, the 5770/6770 (128 bit memory bus) has lower power consumption for it's similar performance to 550ti (192 bit memory bus). 550ti will have a very slight edge in nvidia-friendly games and in physx performance.

What bullcrap is that? It only tested one game. Here is a better review.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-550-ti-...

Go through and look at each game. Or listen to the conclusion.

Quote:
Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 550 Ti delivers solid competition for the Radeon HD 5770. The aggregate numbers show them to be incredible similar, in fact, though both cards claim victories in specific applications.

If you look at the chart on the last page where they normalize the scores against the GTS450, you'll see that the GTX550TI is on avg 18.3% faster, while the 5770 is "only" 17.2%. (the 5770 does have a higher minimum FPS score.) Honestly these cards are so close in performance that unless your favorite game performs way badly on one of these cards, just buy the cheaper of them.

so it means they are very close in performance, but the 550 has an advantage because of physx effect in gaming which looks better

in my post i meant that the 5770/6770 uses less power to trade blows with the 550ti, making it better in power-performance efficiency. i personally don't consider physx as a must-have for gaming.
i agree with 4745454b. the cheaper card is the way to go.

What's so confusing? The cards are so similar you may as well flip a coin, I don't see how this thread is any less confusing than any of the others that have come before it.
