Hello everyone. I've been looking everywhere for answers and i couldn't find anything to help me with a problem i currently have. I hope someone in the community will be able to help me out with this problem i have. I recently upgraded my modem and before then my internet connection was working. I was able to connect to websites and all. But once i upgraded it wouldn't allow me to connect. my other computers are able to but not my main one. My ISP couldn't help me and told me to bring it in to the shop cause they said something was blocking my connection.
I ran some basic things i saw on the internet. i am able to get to web pages through ip address but not through the "www.yahho.ca" type ones. I was wondering if anyone could help me? I'm in dire need of help. Thanks you.

sounds like a DNS Server problem.

go Start then Run in XP - (Windows key plus R in Vista and Windows 7), then type in the following, including all the spaces:- cmd /k ipconfig /all -- then press Enter and from the black form that shows up, take a note of the numeric code beside the word "DNS Server" -- usually something like 192.168.0.1. Type exit to close the black form.

thanks for the reply. yeah it's exactly what you put in under there it's 192.168.0.1. The funny thing is that i'm able to play online games and such but not able to browse. lol.

i have malwarebyte and search and destroy. I ran search and destroy and fixed the issues. haven't ran through malware yet. will do soon. But do you think that could be the actual problem tho? Thanks for the help.

ok so it's running and so far there's nothing being caught. I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be any malware on the computer cause i always run the program and also cause i wasn't able to get on the internet before hand. But hopefully the problem is something just small :(

Open a command prompt, type "ipconfig/all" and post the output here.

You can only run ipconfig/all in Safe Mode with Networking.

Try setting your DNS Servers to 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 (Google public DNS servers).
