Help Quickly!!

Hello all,
I am in need of urgent help. So I was installing the CPU to the motherboard (i5-3550, Asrock z77 pro4), but when I dropped the cpu in the slot it didn't go in right (it was kind of hanging on the side slightly). So I give it a slight nudge, and it falls in place properly (at least, I think). Then, when I push the lever down, I hear a sound, almost like pins snapping or something. Is there something wrong? Is this supposed to happen? I'm like freaking out now, so can someone help me ASAP?

It freaks people out all the time, lol. You're not the first. It almost definitely fine and that sound is quite normal.
