Can I buy a separate audio input & insert it/plug it in to my laptop?

I'm not sure if this exists...
My VPCSB11FX Sony Vaio does not have an audio input. Outrageous, right?
Anyway, I was wondering if there is such a thing as an audio input that can be connect to your audio output, or the plugs in to a USB port.
Maybe what I'm saying is insane, but it turns out the computer's built-in mic is crap, so I want to use my Beats by Dre as a mic, but there's no input!
If this is outrageous, then please tell me there is a microphone that can be plugged into a USB port, and give me a good model.

Of course its got an audio input...use the microphone socket....but yes there are USB souncards (like a little usb stick with mike and headphone sockets on them)
