Will FX-8120 bottleneck HD 6850 Crossfire?

Ok I am a bit nervous because I am thinking about getting 6850 crossfire but People keep saying that my 8120 will completely bottleneck the gpu by 30%-50%

I am making this thread to hopfully get an answer from someone who is not just going to say the 2500k is soooo much better... if you can please give me a ligit answer that will help me.

I just built this computer 1 week ago and im hoping I can crossfire without having to take it apart and rebuid it... I personally don't understand how a 8 core 3.1 ghz cpu can atcually bottlneck a 6850 crossfire.

Thank you for you time! :)

yeah i hope not but people do make it sound like thats what made the roman empire fall :p  any thing solid so I can be sure it won't bottle neck it as much as people say it will

Its not going to bottleneck as a general statement. It will merely be limited in the same games that already are limited by FX-8120s (Skyrim particularly seems to really like Intel quads more than Bulldozers)

So long as the games work well with crossfire it will be fine. Beware that crossfire can make you angry when things don't work right. If you already have one 6850 then its worth a try, but if your buying 2 off the bat, then dont bother, just get a faster single card.

GTA V will still be running on Xbox 360 and PS3, and from the sounds of it, your system is pretty good. You should be fine.

Let's hope they port it better than with GTA IV. That was a nightmare.

No, I've never tried Dirt 3.

Seriously, don't worry about the processor. Its fine IMO.

Yes, the i5's and i7's are technically better, but you still have a decent CPU.

but yes if you go into windows mode with dirt3 there is not option for fullscreen

oh and best of all :D  the only way to play online is you have to make a xbox live account and you have to have gold on that account

I mean it's freaking ridiculous :p

Upgrading to an Ivy Bridge would be expensive as you would also need a new motherboard that is LGA1155 socket.

I am hoping to upgrade from a Phenom II x4 965 to PileDriver when it arrives. Hopefully AMD will get peoples respect with the new architecture.

Not much is known right now, sorry. Its supposedly going to fix Bulldozers architectural issues.

I'd wait for Piledriver before going to i5 though. AMD could produce an amazing chip, we'll have to see.

first , you are not a gamer nekulturny , because gtx 460 sucks in bf3 multiplayer 1080p it cant exceed 25 fps high quality .
dont be Talkative and admitt that amd will not give you cheap cpus with all features
i think amd cpus is very good for just multitasking . second , i am not intel fan boy , ijust bought amd x6 1090t 4.2 ghz in the past and it made me disappointed when i played bf 3 at 45+ and under 60 fps , i upgraded this shiiiit to i7 3770k 4.6 ghz and what a huge difference the fps doesnt goes below 60 fps . dont tell me that all reviews in the world is lying . all reviews say that bulldozer is just abig dissapointing

The GTX 460 was a $210 video card at the time it was purchased (pre Geforce 500 series release). I didn't buy it, it is technically not my computer, as indicated by my sig. But at the time it was a very good video card, it still is a decent card) No I'm not a heavy gamer, I'm at best a casual gamer, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

For that matter, exactly what is the point of you being in this thread? The OP stated he ALREADY HAS an 8120, he asked a question, which you didn't even bother to answer, to go off on a tangent.

Edit: Speaking of people not bothering to answer the question, well mister Comp TIA, do you have any thing add thats relevant to the OP's question? Or you just dropping by to troll as well?

Well, I appreciate the sentiment. I guess if anyone EVER recommends an AMD CPU for any reason whatsoever, you're automatically labeled an AMD fanboy. The question is, what does that say about people who always recommend Intel 100% of the time? Ever read 1984? You're either a party member or a prole. Makes me wonder sometimes.

Nobody asked you to argue with me, Panic Master wants to know if 6850s will be bottlenecked in crossfire on an 8120. Anything to add to that?

BTW, nobody is impressed by A+ certs. You know what the computer parts are called, big whoop. :kaola:
