Hello,

I've been reading up and comparing video cards. I plan on running 6 monitors, including at least one HDMI out (for surround sound) and the rest can be from whatever, with active displaytport adapters if needed. I looked into the ASUS 6950 DCII which has 6 display outputs, but I'd need to sacrifice one displayport for the HDMI conversion (which are only NON-active adapters), and therefore need 2 clocks + only 3 displayport outs.

the question: can I just buy 2 HD6950's WITHOUT crossfire-ing them, and run 3 displays out of both?

Thanks for the help..

Solution
Sure no problem. If you are not planning to Crossfire then your second card would not have to be a 6950. You could go for a lower cost card to drive 3 of your monitors.
