Sound Card Advise

Hi,

I have a budgent of £20 to £30 pounds - -not much really.

But i'm looking for a half decent sound card - well anything that beats AC97.

Also would like the card to be more hardware accelarated rather take up any CPU.

Any advise/reccomendations?

^ That is a good soundcard for the money and surely would blow away the AC 97. You could always go just a little over your budget and get the cheapest X-Fi which is $65 US. But honestly until they work all the bugs out they've been having with the X-Fi line I'd recommend the Audigy line to anyone who just doesn't want any chance of hassle.

I'd go a little over the budget & grab the XFi xtreme audio card.

It's about 33.60 GBP but well worth it. The XFi series is a great line & the sound quality is amazing compared to onboard or cheaper brands
