For BF3 you can get a $500 card and still not be able to max it out at 60fps.

Yea thats the truth, Unless you Have some ubber supper computer/gaming rig with Multiple GPU's and the Latest Extreme performance CPU

CPU doesnt matter as much, its mainy GPU heavy BF3, if he needs to buy a single card.... go with the 570 as itll prob play ultra with MSSA off, because being realistic, not many systems can run it with MSSA X4 unless you have 2x 580 GTX

I have a GTX 560 Ti OC and it runs the game well on ultra settings, you wont have a CPU bottleneck like I have. I got mine for about 200$

can you play 64 player multiplayer with out slow-downs lag... if so iv wasted my money, lol, i think i have like minumin FPS of 50, which keeps me live in the game in high action, i find im making alot more kills against players that maybe are laggin

You will be fine with a GTX 560 ti if you play is 64 players maps. As long as your CPU can handle it. i play in 64 player servers all the time with no lagg. but just to take the strain off you pc and if your that worried about it, maybe a GTX 560 ti 448 core could be a solution without breaking the bank

If your budget is $500-600 then 2 6950 2gb's are a great choice. 1080 on ULTRA with 4x MSAA and 16x aniso antifiltering and I never dip below 70 fps. Maybe on larger maps with 64 players I could dip into the 50s but thats just the territory.
