Hey guys like the title said I am going to be building my own system in antipicipation of Diablo 3 :). If you guys could let me know if my specs all look compatible that would be amazing. And also if you have any info on if this setup will be able to run everything on max settings that would be greatly appreciated!

A couple other questions I have:

1) Would the i5 2320 have much a difference on my experience compared to the i3 2120, it would only be a $50 difference to go with the i5 compared to the i3? ( I do like to listen to music while I game)

2) Will all the parts I listed fit into the Mid tower i have selected? ( A friend of mine said I should buy a full case because of the space needed)

Specs:
CPU-Intel i5 2320 or Intel i3 2120
MOBO- MSI H61M-E33
Ram- 8 GB 2x4 GB Corsair Dominator
HDD- Western Digital Caviar Blue 640 GB 7200rpm
Disk drive- SONY Black 18X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA DVD-ROM
OS- Windows 7
And here is a link to the tower that comes with a 500w power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811156098

Thanks so much for your time everyone! I just really want to do this right and not make any mistakes that I will feel like *** about.

Stick with the i3. Diablo 3 won't require much power to run, if anything you will need a decent GPU.

So you want D3 to run at max - at what resolution? Also what is your budget anyways?

That mid tower will fit everything you listed (which isn't much).

Sorry i forgot to add this!

I am going back and forth between the HD 5770 and the GTX 460 for my GPU. The 460 is around $40 more then the 5770.

Any insight as to which would be better? I have looked into it and both will run d3 on max settings. The gtx has better reviews and I'm just wondering will it be worth the little investment?

imho for your gpu i would go for the 570 gtx or higher and upgrade your psu to a 700-850w just for later upgrades with psu. I have a 460 gtx and its a decent card but doesnt pull the fps i would like in bf3, skyrim, wow, and tor. and even with d3 beta it wasnt up to par =P

I want to spend under $150 for the GPU. So any better suggestions guys?

Also would there be any difference between the gigabyte h61m-ds2 and the Msi h61m-p23? I noticed a deal for the i3 2120 and the gigabyte mobo was $20 cheaper then the Msi mobo with the i3 2120.

Thanks guys

How does this look?

Radeon 6850 1GB 149.99

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125353

Edit: The only problem is that the 6850 requires a 500W PSU - and the Case + PSU you are getting has a 500W PSU. It might be at the very edge of power requirements.

It's a very good card for the price. It should be able to max out D3 no sweat.

As for the gigabyte deal - why don't you go for that. All these H61 chipsets are somewhat low end - and if you can get a discount all the better.

Thank you Chainzsaw!

So right now my specs would look like:

I3 2120
Gigabyte H61
Radeon 6850
2x4GB Ram Corsair
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM
RAIDMAX SMILODON Case
16X Drive
Windows 7

Does that look pretty solid? And do you see anything I am leaving out?

Looks like a solid build. I'm still a little worried about that 500W PSU that comes with that case though. Although the really low power requiements of all your other pieces should make it ok.

Do you need a LCD screen? Other than that...everything should work. One last thing though, those Corsair Dominators have massive heat sinks on them and usually people who like to overclock get them. Plus they are wildly expensive for what they are.

Since you won't be able to overclock I would reccomend these sticks instead:

Mushkin Enhanced silverline 2x4GB DDR3 1333Mhz 42.99$:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226095

Has a nice little heatsink on them, and are about half the price of the dominators.

Those dominators run at 1.6v. AFAIK you will void your CPU's warrenty if you run any RAM above 1.5V specification. However that's a really good deal.

I would still go with the mushkins though. At least you know for sure you won't void your warranty on your CPU.
