Hey everyone I've started gathering parts for my first build for a gaming rig. Heres a forum with some info http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/340116-31-home. I'm looking at these 5 cases for my build. They all being under $100 all fit my budget. I wanted your thoughts on the best of the five or any other suggestions. I find appearance very important but not as much as functionability(if thats even a word lol)((Nope I checked its functionality)). Thx in advance. Game on...

Hello,

My vote goes for the CM HAF 922. Apparently they are very easy to work with, and looks not too bad.

Here's cases I typically recommend:

- Fractal Design Arc MIDI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
- Corsair Carbide 400R: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
- Antec 1100: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Raidmax makes truly awful, awful, awful products - stay away from them. Those would be way better choices than anything Raidmax makes - we buy these cases where I work and they're so cheaply made and fall apart really easily that I will flat-out refuse to buy or recommend them. I also wouldn't recommend the Antec 900 - it was a good case when it was first released but lack of cable management and CPU retention for installing coolers is not good, and I don't recommend it for that reason, the 1100 eclipses it easily.

No NZXT Phantom? In my opinion thats a really cool looking case, though I've never built in one.

From a functional point of view, a case with two 120mm intake fans, or the equivalent in exhaust fans will give you adequate cooling for gaming.
Every case, except some small m-atx or itx cases will hold your cards and some hard drives.

Past that, looks matter, and that is a factor that only YOU can determine.
I agree, looks count. You will be looking at it for a long time.
Bust your budget for a case you really lust after.

For me, I am not a big fan of "bling".
Look at the Antec 300 illusion model which is a perennial favorite:

I support this message! haha.. Fractal midi is great case. Zalman z9 plus. Corsair carbide series. I saw a Rosewill Blackhawk today and it looks nice as well. Antec is always a good choice.

I love the Phantom but not for a >=$1K build. I'd put that money in the GPU, but that is my opinion. I'd recommend that more on a $1500 - $2K build. You could always get the Phantom 410 which is a slightly smaller version of the standard Phantom: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Zalman Z9 is a decent choice, as is the Rosewill Blackhawk but there's far better out there.

i did a build with that smilidon extreme two weeks ago and it is awsome, dont forget to get an extra 120 mm fan for hdd cooling i some how missed it in the description, but it is on the back side of board side for extra cooling i would reccomend it!
