Destop computer startsup then cpu switches off

Hi,

My system (desktop) when switched ON, starts up & dispalys boot sequence & then after say 6 seconds switches OFF automatically.If some one could help trouble shooting this situation.

have you tried a different PSU (power supply). it sounds from your description that the system is getting enough power to post but when it cranks the wattage to boot it cuts off.

We need more information. Is this a big box OEM computer or homebuilt? How old is it? Have you made any changes like a new CPU or new PSU?

New Mobo?

Sometimes they have AHCI enabled by default in the bios and some drives don't like it.

Agreed, need more information before anyone could help ya out.

It could be alot of things. It could be a RAM problem, Power supply problem, dying HDD's, Overheating CPU and the list can go on and on. Without more information it will be hard to trouble shoot.
