This computer is mostly used for internet by my family. No settings have been changed from their defaults.

The computer will run for a few hours. Then freeze (including the keyboard). I'll force it off. Then a second later it will be turned on and run normally for another few hours. I assume it's not an overheating problem (although my cable management is poor).

Running lm sensors I get on average: CPUTIN 34.5 C, AUXTIN 30.5 C, SYSTIN 30 C (for systin it says "high = +0.0 C, hyst = 0.0 C"), Core 0 = 38 C, Core 1 = 40 C.

Everything seems to be connected correctly, too. Running memtest86+ overnight showed nothing wrong with the RAM. The hard drive seems okay. I tried installing the OS again (ubuntu 12.04 64 bit- it froze on 32 bit as well) and it made no difference.

Here are the parts:
CPU: Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock H61M-GE Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: Patriot 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Hard Drive: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Power Supply: Corsair 430W ATX12V Power Supply

I'm at a loss about what's wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to ask over at Ubuntu forums, it might be a driver problem with Intel HD graphics for example.

make sure your cpu is seated correctly, or maybe take it off you could have bent the pins on the mobo when installing it, also if thats ok move your ram around to different sockets
