Your motherboard, a socket 1366 x58 chipset is incompatible with a LGA2011 cpu. My personal suggestion for a replacement is the ASRock X79 EXTREME4-M http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... . yes, it's microAtx, which is unfortunate, but packs more of a punch in terms of memory overclocking and capacity, and PCIe 3.0 support.

i'm not too sure about ASrock though, i hear some bad reviews about them, but never actually used their parts would u still recommend it over say these?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

or i could go with one of the i7's with LGA1155 maybe like this?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

with this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

its used primarily for gaming and im not really concerned about the price difference on any, just the performance :)

motherboard not compatible with cpu you need a socket 2011 for that cpu i would limit it to 8 gb ram unless doing heavy encoding etc games just dont use it 5 gb max in bf3 the cm 212 hsf comes with tim aswell so u dont need the arctic silver, personally 2600k would be fine

if you want quad then i5-2550k is better bang for money with a z68/p67 board.
Or if you want to use a 2011 socket cpu then i7-3930k is better with x79 board.

since your going extreme go for it. just sadly it would have been better if you go with i7 3930K since well it's just what I think that the i7 3820 is not that worth it as there are other better quad cores like the i7 2600K but if you really must get the lga2011

go with asrock x79extreme4 like what the above said. it's a great choice or if your like me who love msi products go with msi x79a-gd65 8d (i use them on 3 builds i have and they work wonders) although i can say for my self on my latest build I'm using an asus rog rampage x79(this is a better choice for people with deeper pocket) and performance was awesome.

go with 16gb quad channel kit i do recommend g.skill ripjaws Z 16gb 1600mhz

btw the 3820 you can still overclock it to 4.2ghz or something so there should be no problem with that. the cooler master hyper 212 evo is a great cooler for it's value but if course if you want leet go with noctua nh-d14 cons are it's too big for most cases and ram(ripjaws Z and X and sniper fit this)

btw you were saved by James lol good thing he pointed you out that the mobo you selected is not compatible, nothing is worse than buying everything and finds out your mobo is not compatible lol.
