When your monitor is black, can you tell that your computer is still running? if it does, it should be an GPU problem, if it doesn't, it may be something more serious like an broken Motherboard or CPU.
computer works fine. I just typed this with a black screen. just timed it, every 6 seconds. Eventually it will stop going black and work just fine. If the computer sits with noone using it, starts all over again. It is now working fine. About 6 minutes.
My monitor will go black after some usage.
It's not a fixed period of time but recently it seems to be turning black after 2 hours of usage.
If I'm playing music or a movie, the audio track will continue for a while before it becomes like a scratched CD, repeating that one single syllabus.
The monitor light will start flashing meaning it went on standby.
Further attempts to restart will show the windows screen running but it is very unlikely to reach the start screen before it repeats the same "black out" problem.
But after leaving the PC overnight, it will allow me to use it for about 2 hours again before it blacks out on me.
If I play games like Portal 2, it will black out in a matter of minutes.
I recently changed the PSU to a Seasonic S12 620W from a CM 500W. For a while it seemed like the problem went away, then it came back again.
I don't smell anything burning.
