my pentium d usualy idles at around 50 then under heavy load hits the 80s untill it gets to 90c then shuts down ,,, i disabled 1 core to try bring the temps down but instead of cooling it has made it worse after boot my temps where in the 70s ... whys that

With 2 core workload separate into 2 core so each work less(less heat). Now one have to work harder to get to the same workload.

Mine did the same thing; Pentium D's overheated unless you have a very good heatsink, or better yet, watercooling.

Nevermind that a lowly 1.2 GHz Core 2 outdoes it....
