I was thinking about getting a 6950 but should I wait for the 7850 instead?

Anyone know how good this card performs against the 6950?

Will they both be at the same price point?

No one knows how the 7850 will perform exactly, I personally would wait. I'm assuming the 7850 will have good overclocking similar to the 7970. Maybe wait and see the performace reviews before making a decision.

In general I wouldn't invest in old architecture when there's newer stuff available. For driver reasons mostly (also heat and power) but that's just me, good luck!

If the price/performance of the 7850 is comparable to the 6950 then I will get the 7850 for sure since it is newer architecture. I just want to get the best bang/buck for around $200.

No reviews out yet for it?

It is looking like the 7850 will have very similar specs to a 6950 will be about the same price. If this is true I would definitely wait and get the newer architecture.

I'm actually in the same boat as the OP. I just got a new rig (i5-2500k) and my HD5770 just isn't cutting it anymore. I had the HD6950 2g in mind (I play DCS:A-10C so I figured the extra video memory would help) but I heard that the 7850 was around the corner. I also like having new(er) architecture, but are we talking about April for these to start hitting store shelves?
