Hello,

I recently upgraded my system and I used to have an issue where any game I played would go down to about 8 fps then back up to a normal fps. I re-installed windows and now when I launch a game it plays for about 20 seconds then my whole computer freezes. My windows explorer is also generally sluggish. I also tried installing my os to a different HDD. I also have an issue where when I log into windows there is a black screen for about 10 seconds.
My Specs are:

Intel Core i7 3930k 2011 socket
Sapphire HD 7970
16GB G Skill 1600mhz DDR3
Gigabyte X79-UD3 Motherboard
Kingston 64gb SSD
Corsair GS600W psu
Antec Kuhler 620
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I upgraded from a Core 2 quad and an old 9600gt and this new system is just a lot slower which it really shouldn't be. So I'm hoping that someone has some idea any idea is good and I'm willing to try any recommendation someone has thank you very much.

Did you get new PSU or using an old PSU?
It happens me to before. My PSU didn't generate enough power so when i start any game hard disk stop spinning and everything freezes. I replaced my PSU with new one and system works normally now. You can try inserting new psu and see if it works.
