DMA question

I just installed an LG CD writer on my system, and it appears to work fine, but there was one DMA setting in my BIOS that I was unsure about.

I installed the writer as a secondary master, and in the BIOS there is a setting for ULTRA DMA MODE - <1,2,3,4,5,or disable>. My documentation says the writer operates at MULTI DMA MODE 2.

I set mine to disable, but I was wondering - should I have picked 2? And what exactly is MULTI DMA mode?

Interesting. I was planning on getting an LG 12X. I would have set it to 2, but that would have been a guess. Have you made any coasters yet?
