GTX580 Coil Whine

My GTX580 has just started making a really annoying buzzing under load, after about 6 months of being silent (it's definitely the GPU, and definitely not fans).

I'm pretty sure it's coil whine, and if so, is this bad for the card and why would it just randomly start happening?

i take it you have already blown the dust out of it and made sure there weren't any simple issues like that.

if the gpu is definitely making a buzzing noise (and its not your psu or other device) then i'd be contacting the manufacturer to ask them about it. personally i would be wanting a repair or replacement since it most likey is well within warranty.
