for $20 another 512kb of cache cant hurt, but i would get a C2D instead, better performance.

Yeah. If you really want AMD, wait until the 5400+ and 5600+ come out. They will slip right into nice price niches for better performance.

Yes I would recommend waiting for the 5400 & 5600 and then see how much they will sell for and check out some benchemark tests. but if you have to chose between the 5000 and the 5200 I would go for the 5200 if you want the better performance. Or you could get the X2 5000 65nm if you want a better energie efficient cpu that produces less heat.

Im so tired of correcting fanboys.

Im not a fanboy, i go where the best performance is, and currently the best performance is to be had with a C2D.

i guess you right though, it isnt just a complete slaughter, you need at least a midrange c2d to take on amd's high end.

I'm debating on which of these I should get for my new pc. Is the extra 1/2 MB of L2 Cache worth the $20?

The cache is not worth it. Put th extra money into a really good cooler and you can get up to 220 HT @ ~1.375V. That should get you to 2.8GHz.
