Okay, I don't have any problems with my hard drive. But, I'm curious...does setting the cable in the ATA100 slot make a difference compared to putting it in the standard IDE slot? What does my UDMA setting do in the BIOS? It's at 5 right now.

System Specs:
Asus A7V133
IBM 30GB 7200RPM ATA100

It depends on the standard of your IDE slot. UDMA 5 is ATA100, meaning that your HDD is operating at ATA100. If your second IDE slot is ATA33, then the hard drive would only run at ATA33.

So my HD is being used to it's full potential? (DMA is checked for Windows)

Basically, I wouldn't need to use the ATA100 slot unless I was using more than one HD for RAID, right?
