I am looking into building a set of machines each having 4 SATA 3 disks and an i5-3450S CPU. The disks are to be plugged into the motherboard on 6-Gb/s interfaces. The CPU has a 5-GT/s bus. I am having trouble mapping gigatransfers to gigabits in this setup to figure out how much of the disks' 6-Gb/s interfaces will be utilized at best.
Any pointers are appreciated.
The limiting factor is going to be the disks. Mechanical HDD will not even max out the max transfer rate of SATA II controller.
