Connecting laptop to HDTV thin black border

ive been doing a little research on this and cant find a concrete answer. when i go to plug my laptop into my tv (a 42" 720p Panasonic Plasma) i get a thin black border around the entire image. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get rid of it. Any help would be much appreciated

With the TV on connected to the computer displaying the desktop, go to the TV's menu and look for the "overscan/underscan" option. Change until the black border goes away. I have heard some GPU driver menus also might contain the overscan/underscan option so if changing it on the TV doesn't help, try changing it with your GPU driver menu.
