Hello,
I'm currently running a 5770 Radeon 1GB. My motherboard supports crossfire (ASUS|P7P55D DELUXE P55 1366 RT) and I'd like to increase my graphics performance. I was thinking of buying another 5770, but then it occurred to me I could buy a 6870 and sell the 5770, and it would net out the same.

People seem to suggest one card over two.

I play SWTOR, skyrim, and the next game I'll buy will probably be Mass Effect 3.

Same here, I have a HD 6870 (xfx) And It runs beautifully, I am very satisfied with it, I got the single fan edition because it is a shorter card, but if you have the space in your case, I recommend the dual fan version.

While that may be true I don't think its going to be an issue just yet a while.
The drivers are still including improvements for the 5 series cards and they are 2 years and 4 months old.

Mactronix :)

Hi Mactronix

VLIM4: "difficult assembly creation, analysis and debug" says enough for me.

Sure they will make the new games work, they have a reputation to hold.
But a good (and costly) optimization is nothing you can count on.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I think the price of the 6870 has come down pretty far, so I will probably just grab one of those. Amazon has one for 165, with a 15 dollar rebate. Once I get it, I'll sell the 5770.

I'd say get a 6950 and call it a day or wait for 7950 to come out. Investing more money into an old card is a waste because we are already seeing how insane 22nm overclocks and handles heat. I'm currently using 1 6950 and I'll be replacing it with a 7950.

The driver problem is the part that talks to the logical part of your brain.

The affective / ego justification is that when the new shiny things will be released you'll regret your weakness and will want the new stuff like every body else.

That's what they say in my Waiting Support Group. ;)
