2x Crossfire that run 3x Eyefinity BF3 on ultra ?

Is that such a thing even exist ? hoping for a 60fps (so it don't drop below 30fps during stress time). I'm asking for 2x set-up so I could just buy a third one in 2 or 3 years to keep my PC able to run 3x monitor at max graphix on any game.

More about crossfire eyefinity ultra
  1. Radeon 7970
A single one with no AA gets this

so 2 should give you what you need.
  2. Get a 7970 +1 and Crossfire later.

Well I'm tempted to wait for the 7990 I thought the 7970 would beat a 6990.

    7990 is 2 x HD 7970.

ok so a 6990 is an already crossfire 6970 ?

But does a 6990 take 2 GPU slot on your mobo or basicaly I could use 3x on a 3slot mobo ?
  6. no you can't use 3 6990s.

also crossfire scaling is horrible pass 2 cards.

Yes 6990 is 2 GPUs connected with each other by internal Crossfire bridge.
Any card takes only 1 PCIE 2.0 x16 slot. Whether it was a single GPU or a Dual GPU in one PCB.

Just to clarify what already been said. Crossfire support a maximum of 4 cards and dual cards like the 6990 count as 2. You can crossfire a 6990 with 1 or 2 6970s. All cards only take 1 slot but all high end cards take 2 slot spaces so some boards that allow 3 cards cannot fit 3 because of the size. As stated crossfire does not scale that well beyond 2 cards but as with crossfire in general it varies from game to game.
I recommend get a 7970 and if you want more power get another later, or wait a month or to and see what the 7950, 7990 & Nvidia cards are like.
