Im looking to finish it, but finding out the parts i had chosen for some the components aren't made any more or hard to get. i was thinking a Geforce BFG 8800 video Card at the time, an antec truepower 1000w pow supply, and a Asus Maximus Formula intel x38 motherboard. I am looking for some substutions for these, the motherboard and power supply being the main ones.

Ram: Corsair 2* 2gb modules DDR2

Fan: Zalman Cpu cooler CNPs9700nt

Wireless Card: Dlink pci express desktop adapter

Harddrive: Sata 320 gb harddrive Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200ksrtl

DVD drive: LG Internal Super Multi Dvd rewriter 20x dvd+r wite speed, 8.5 gb dvd+r, LG 20x Ls Sata DVDRw Int

Go with the 100 - it's the same style chassis as the 300 but with far better cable management: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Alternately check out the Cooler Master HAF 912: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

That might be a hard thing as there's very few 775 motherboards available - and I seriously hate to recommend refurbished anything - but maybe something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

It has a dedicated X16 lane so you can use the most current video cards - most of the mATX 775 boards don't have a dedicated x16 lane so you wouldn't be able to run - say a 7850 or 7870.

If you can get a board with an X16 lane I'd highly recommend a Radeon 7850: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Ive noticed a lot of these lg 775 motherboards that are being sold use ddr3, would it be in my best interest to upgrade the ram, would i get a better motherboard.

In order to use the Core 2 Quad you have to be able to use an LGA 775 motherboard - upgrading the RAM to DDR3 won't really do much in terms of performance, nor will you be able to change the socket on the motherboard.
